Fleet Foxes vs Bon Iver

Helplessness Blues vs. Bon Iver
Fleet is up first then Bon and this repeats until the top five songs by both of them have all battled its Fleet then Bon, Fleet then Bon, Fleet then Bon... Five times total of 10 songs and 5 pts. Let's Battle.

Round 1:
1. Montezuma: Really flowing and the guitar is just very good its amazing, the vocals blow your mind. "oh man oh my oh me" the catchiest verse ever... tremendous song and great album opener.

vs.

3. Holocene: Rich guitar and very flowing, the soft vocals and equally soft atmosphere. The atmosphere stays thin but there are occasional leaves and birds flowing in the air.

Round 2:
6. Helplessness Blues: Fast guitar, echoing vocals, multiple guitars. It gets loud and thick and when it does its the best sound you can hear, its very soothing and calming.

vs.

8. Calgary: Sounds like wind, echoes in the soft breeze. The air isn't still anymore a gust of wing blows and it smooths out.

Round 3:
2. Bedouin Dress: Classic finger picking guitar, clapping in the back. This song is a lot happier and it has a violin too.

vs.

1. Perth: Soft electric guitar, the sound of marching drums and voices. It sounds very sad, like a march of death and the thickness in the middle reflects the grief and sorrow of the song.

Round 4:
4. Battery Kinzie: This song is a lot happier as i said before and its really up beat. The vocals are less slow and they are much more excited and buoyant.
vs.

4. Towers: Same feel as the other songs but its movement is a little faster, and it grows louder. Like all of the songs they reach a point where it is at an ultimate thickness in the music and it essentially breaks apart after this point.

Round 5:
3. Sim Sala Bim: Fast classical sounding guitar, extremely finger picked. This song gets very loud and it has a lot going on there is the guitar and the harp, the percussion, the strings and bells.

vs.

2. Minnesota, WI: A lot more modest mouse sounding and better taken. The groove is a whole lot more jazz oriented, the vocals aren't the usual and the song is always thick with instruments different ones, they all blend and mix in very well.

16 song addition
vs.
18 song addition

Round winner:
Round 1: Fleet Foxes
Round 2: Fleet Foxes
Round 3: Bon Iver
Round 4: Fleet Foxes
Round 5: Bon Iver

Fleet Foxes: 3 pts.
Bon Iver: 2 pts.
overall winner: Fleet Foxes

Why? Because the songs were stronger and even though both of the albums are thick and have lots of instruments i felt that Fleet Foxes were better in the atmospheric feeling and i preferred the thick multiple vocals over just one man singing... i felt that Bon Iver did a Great job on the instruments and if this was based purely on instrumentation Bon Iver would win in a landslide but all in all Fleet Foxes delivered and exceeded expectations that i thought i wouldn't be able to dig because its folk but they won me over.

  1. I don't get.
You compare 2 songs of their songs 5 times and then you say which album is best ...
In case you hadn't noticed, the albums have 10 and 12 songs respectively, so what about the other ones?
And how do you decide which song vs. which?
So 'Montezuma' beats 'Holocene' in Rd 1 but why not 'Montezuma' vs. 'Perth' for example? Maybe with exactly the same songs in a different order Bon Iver would win ...
Don't get me wrong, I think both albums are great, it's just that your system doesn't make a whole lot of sense ...
