OK I'm Not doing a track review I'm just gonna tell you what i think based on the facts (music style). Ok well just guessing the genre of music they sound like Garage rock or Alternative and not very uh whats the word... unique, the vocals sound like meh and the music is basically just buzz. So what are they? Hmm i don't know lets find out... turns out they are a "Psychedelic" band and I'm not really seeing any Psychedelia at all and well yup who knows if this is just a bad tag or that's what they're going for. They are from San Francisco which isn't strange to see given the fact the album west has the bridge on the cover. The band formed in 2006 and they have made about 5 albums since then with an album every year since 2007.The music is very buzz. Not like the Buzz where you communicate through telephone or like buzz as in spreading like buzz. No its more of the buzz; a monotonous sound like that of an insect in motion. I don't think that's a good thing if i do say so myself. The music has so much buzz on west in it i wasn't sure if it was the song or if it was the speakers messing up. As far as garage rock goes that label seems a lot better to describe west. Like radiohead said in karma police or in a similar way; the buzzings like a fridge and he sings like a detuned radio cus of the background static on his songs (you have to sing to karma police with that phrase).
I do like the song Lazy Bones though and its really upbeat. The vocals arent too impressive the guy has a monotone and the constant static sound kills the upbeatness and thats a shame. This isnt the first album they have made and yeah they arent swaying me.
Overall i dont really dig em in first imprssions of this band based on the album west. Im pretty sure if i give them a couple of listens and also listen to the other albums im pretty sure theyll grow on me but they arent pschedelic they are garage rock.
