HIGHLIGHTS of hUrry uP, wEre dReaming bY m83

Now i thought that Gonzalez was a spanish last name but apparently Anthony Gonzalez is from the french duo of m83, along with his trusty comrade Nicolas Fromageau. So this duo is not at all new to the electronica music scene they have 5 albums prior to this new album and they've been at it since 2001 about 10 years right? they arent new to this game of musical chess but apperently with Saturday = youth the game turned and they started to grow more fame. Ever since then lots of "indie kids" started to claim that they liked them before that album and thats highly unlikely. the good thing is that now that they have gained attention they also gained attention in this new release sadly the other four albums are way underheard and yes i am one of those people who came after saturdays = youth came out and i havent heard anything else but i do promise to listen to more soon. The album is a huge double album (something unheard of since the 90's) with the concept of dreams and how they change from childhood to teenhood to adulthood. This album tries to explain in music how dreams are and how thwe feel in the limited form of lyrics and music but hey they do a good job.

highlighted tracks of  first half:

2. Midnight City: The beginning is very smooth, really retro, and addictingly danceble. When the vocals start your already dancing or head banging. The vocals are soft but subtle. Its almost like whispering but a little louder, kind of like the opening track but with more layers. The greatest moment of the song is probably the saxophone solo torward the end. Its a really addicting song and weird it may be but the more you listen to it the better it gets.
3. Reunion: Let me just say the beginning of this song reminds me of this old song from the 80's called: Don't you (forget about me) by simple minds. Seriously, am i the only one who hears this resemblence? Anyway the beginning passes and your left in awe to the vocals. The song keeps progressing and then it gets very upbeat. Overall the song is awesome and its great right after midnight city.
4. Where the Boats Go: This song starts off very slow and sad sounding, its very soft and if you are guessing, yes its an instrumental and a very short but good one for that.
5. Wait: The dominant instrument in the beginning of the song is the guitar, very calm acoustic strumming to the echoed vocals. Its really not that much of a dancing song but the vocals portray a very sad meaning of death. Its a sad but beautiful song.
6. Raconte-Moi Une Histoire: This is my favorite song of this half of the album. I bet your wondering why, the reason is the story the little girl is telling is very amusing and the story is very bliss. The sound of her voice is very cute. The thought of this story of these "friends" becoming "frogs" and living and playing forever is really imaginitive. After awhile the vocals are heard from m83 in the background behing the music. Its an amazing song with a great story intertwined in it.

sorry i dont have mirror. :C

Highlights from second half:

12. My Tears Are Becoming A Sea: It starts off sad, the vocals slow and emotional. After a few seconds ther song just grows and the feelings of pain, and sorrow. The limited lyrics feed that feeling and this rings true for all the sad songs on this album.
13. New Map: This is the quickest and fastest changed song, it transitions in less than 5 seconds to really fast. Course it slows down again just to speed back up. Quick and dancy, and really chill song.
14. OK Pal: Catchy vocals in the start, with just a vocal sample looping. Drums start and your in a car race in an old Cherokee, windows down in the desert. Avoiding your rivals tricks and passing the finish line first. Anyway that kind of gets pictured in your mind while you hear this song.
16. Splendor: Piano beginning, and it keeps playing or rather stomping down chords until the vocals in echoey bliss start sounding. Soon a choir of voices follow and you hear a heavenly sound blaring around. Very soothing song, it gently rocks you to sleep.
19. Steve McQueen: This song is my favorite song of the second half. The vocals are just so short, cut, and dry but so catchy and echoey. The sound of an epic race, or something. Then the vocals go "oh oh wahhahhh ooohh ohhh" that part just gets me. So many transitions and they all build, the slowly build this skyscraper of a song.

im sorry i didn't do an individual track review but 20 songs is a lot to do in only a week so im sorry for only doing 10 songs thats why i didn't title the post notes on Huryy up, We're dreaming. but seriously its a good album. i would check out the new neon indian (review'd), the new washed out (review'd), the new com truise (i might review), and the new active child (i might review). this is new if this year is 2011.
