Digitalism... a great electronic band that had a very successful debut but will the sophomore album do the same? This album only has 10 songs compare that to idealism which has a whooping 17 songs. Were gonna find out if this album is as good or better than the debut idealism.
1. Stratosphere: wow for an instrumental this is pretty wickedly awesome. I'm liking the transitions and chillwave type beats. I'm digging the drums. I can now say that digitalism is one of the only electronic acts who can pull off a good instrumental.
2. 2 Hearts: I love his vocals. This album shows that his vocals matured. The lyrics are really good too. His lyrics matured a great deal too. I love the beats he made and I also love the drums the drummer is projecting.
3. Circles: the lyrics are superb. The lyrics are really amazing compared to the lyrics of the debut since in the debut he had longer gaps between his lyrics and shorter lines. I love the imitation of guitars. I love the bassy electronic sounds. The drums are good as always.
4. Blitz: probably my favorite beat in this album. Its an awesome song with great looping/editing and not to mention genius transitions to equally awesome change in beats. The song is changing at a good pace not to fast and not to slow. I love the synth like crazy in this song.
5. Forest gump: clearly has roots with pogo, except this song has better rhythm and the lyric "and so you run and then you run" is alot catchier than "theres something in the air". The falsetto stands out because he is in a normal tone during the whole song until that falsetto.
6. Reeperbahn: ha ha ha ha dude this sounds so hard and punky. I love the hardness it makes me HEADBANG! I like the touch of screaming it makes this song a bit creepy. Id kill zombies to this song. Seriously though :l.
7. Antibiotics: modern club music. I picture this playing at a night club very trance-electro-pop sounding I can hear the Australian electro influences in this song.
8. Just gazin': what do I hear guitars wait its just synth over synth over synth. Since this song title is similar to Apollo-gaze I'm gonna call this track Apollo-gaze 2.0 and the vocals are really dreamy.
9. Miami showdown: 1...2...3...FIGHT! That's what it needs in the intro. Its a fighting song. It sounds very epic. Head banging fist pumping good. Nice instrumental
10. Encore: loooooooong start. Soft static beginning. I'm tapping my foot to the bass. Bass is good. Some background noise that sounds like coughing is playing. Whoa transition again I thought the song was over then transition. Drums are getting alot more cunning. EPIC end to an amazing album.
You know how they say the debut is usually better then the second album? Its hard to say that this is the case here. It may only have 10 songs but its 10 songs that you can fist pump, head bang, dance, and go clubbing to. If you like daft punk, underworld, the prodigy, deadmau5, and the crystal method you want to start listening or if you like this album you should try those artists. Well there's another good digitalism album. Let the good albums roll.
