Notes on torches by foster the people

I finally am reviewing what you all told me to in the poll or what only 5 of you said... sad, I actually made it available to anyone and anonymous well hopefully next time more will vote and I also make playlists every 2nd week of a new month so I made one yesterday. Anyway time for torches... im not gonna introduce FTP because everyone already knows them.

1. Helena beat: the drums beat alot then a collapsing sound hitches to the beginning of the piano key. The trippy guitar starts and before you know it the vocals start in my opinion Helena beat is the best song in the album. *Brrrr brrrr brrrur brrrrur brrrrrruuur bruuur brrrreeee* that's the interpretation of the guitar. The song goes by and the bassy part begins it's really great. This takes me back to that foster the people ep.
2. Pumped up kicks: the drum immediately begins. Flange!!!! Flange!!! Flange!!! Synth sound is a flange...the bass, or rather the glue of the song begins blaring out a repetitive little line that stays cool. Guitar starts five seconds later you can hardly tell though. I remember reviewing this song before the album was out and I thought it was old cus it was out in 2010 but I heard it on the radio, mainstream pop radio and my heart sunk but whatever more power to em. If you want more "review" look at the right you'll see it. Cus if I keep on about this song ill go hipster mode.
3. Call it what you want: the vocal repeat is weird. I don't hear eternal summer in this song. The song is pretty funky I love this style alot better than the pumped up kicks style mainly because of the dance feel to it. The keyboard and bass fit to make the song super funky and 80's electro sounding.
4. Color on the walls (don't stop): the whistling is nice. Acoustic guitar ob the back drop. Just analyzing the lyrics I don't hear eternal summer more like eternal child play. I don't know who said "eternal summer" (probably the rolling stone) who shouldn't review music I mean really I don't give credit to some site that picked Michael Jackson as the best Singer ever more like most mainstream singer ever. They choose him over Kurt Cobain, Thom Yorke, Freddie Mercury... just really stop. Anyway the childishness of the song is great thats the typical style of the mgmt oracular spectacular era and its nice to listen to and sure there might be "deeper" meaning to it but I like the literal child play label.
5. Waste: well I already hear similarities to P.U.K. and its mainly in the bass. The child like sound is cool it gives it a brighter sound. The dramatic sound of happiness condensed is amazing only to be released in certain points of the song. Ringing bells and twisting vibrations are felt throughout the song.
6. I would do anything for you: the vocals are calmer sadder but the bass Is great. Then mark starts saying "ooo la la im falling in love" so this is a post epic break up/new girlfriend feeling...nice. the piano is great the little funk part is great. Over all great.
7. Houdini: this was also on the original ep. I remember how fun and playful the song was. How the vocals were unique and full of emotion. The drums keep the song in the groove and this song has a party walk dance attack feel no head bobing here only jump jig groove electro pop dancing no slowing down.
8. Hustling (life on the nickel): Ok the little blip in the beginning not really needed. The glass like piano and hard drum reminds me of friendly fires. The lyrics are calling me awesome so im happy. Yeah the mood is a party like mood. The party is in a park though and your in an animal costume at the swing set.
9. Miss you: the drums they hit you and hit you like gun fire. The piano calls for help and mike foster trys healing you with his voice. The drum attacks again but the guitar is deflecting the shots and his vocals give a reinforcement. Like a lazer the drums recharge and the guitar deflects. Song imagery +2 pts.
10. Warrant: "aaaah aaah aaah ah ah oh" choir of lovely voices sing gracefully to this. Drums begin slowly coming closer getting better as the choir slowly starts to loop to death. The bass starts and its a crazy funk chocked bass stolen from the 90's garage rock revival scene. The piano is good and it gives a good intro to mike fosters vocals. The lyrics are good just like you expect. A keyboard starts off after the vocals end filling the gap of emptiness the vocals leave. Ok there are sone altered vocal hynms here. The main rhythm is amazing and it's got a lively jogging beat not crazy hyped up on power drink but a high sugar added kind of feel.

Overall the album felt like an album highlighting the great childishness of the world. The innocence that our modern society lacks and our funless days of depression and this highlights all of the positive current things. Sure you might not have a job but now you got alot of time on your hands. Live life to the fullest and seize the day. Oh I hope you enjoy my joke...
