Notes on pala by friendly fires

I know I'm a tad bit late but this album is great. You can automatically tell that they grew a good deal from their debut in this album. They got louder quicker and thicker. They also evolved the electronic music into catchy club worth tunes and thus gained more rhythm. The singing also kinda matured too.

1. Live those days tonight: "ill live ill live ill live ill live those days tonight" probably the best moment in this song especially when the other members of the band are accompanying vocals by saying "ill live" I love this refrain. I love the transitions I love the vocals.
2. Blue cassette: Retro sounding. Catchy intro vocal. Nice transition, I feel a connection to the debut now I am very reminded of the debut album.
3. Running away: I love the bass. I know I say that alot but the appreciation for bass is needed. I like the vocals and transitions. I also like the reverb echo effect.
4. Hawaiian air: Weird sounds again. I'm reminded of the debut album again. Its really taking influence from their roots.
5. Hurting: Do I hear chillwave elements? Yes I do. I like this, the vocals are good in this song. Catchy lyrics cool transitions. Chillwave I hear! I really like that.
6. Pala: long start, slow vocals reminds me of total life forever/Tom boy.
7. Show me the lights: I'm sorry but this song doesn't stand out it screams filler.
8. True love: Yeah and I'm reminded of the songs skeleton boy and jump in the pool from the debut. Whoa wait up I hear vocal style similar to empire of the sun. Mindchanger. This song is good now.
9. Pull me back to earth: the chorus really stands out. I really love the falsetto. I love how it gets thinner during the chorus then thicker afterwards.
10. Chimes: (I just yelled at my bro for his utter show of lazyness) ok halfway thru the song. Yeah its pretty meh. Nothing is standing out no unique falsetto and the chimes suck too.
11. Helpless: I dig this. Yep here comes the chillwave elements. Yeah I can feel the wave of sound.

Conclusion, they evolved, they stick to their roots. They got chillwave sound, weird elements of sound, very club worthy.

If you listen to washed out, foals. Late of the pier, Delphic, and two door cinema club this is an album you are gonna love so I recommend it to all you.
