Notes on Rooms Filled With Light by Fanfarlo

You've heard of Fanfarlo right? You've better have and especially since they have a new album out. This album since i heard this album with Memoryhouse, they both sound a like and the big difference is that Fanfarlo is a British indie band while Memoryhouse is a Canadian Dream-pop band which is just a sparkly version of Indie-pop. This is a pretty good album musically and it has a steady and uniform sound but when you piece it all together do you get a good looking pic or just a jumbled mess? lets look closer at it to see.

Track review (track list confirmed buy Fanfarlo no seriously buy it):

1. Replicate: The violins they're cool, and there's a nice crescendo and decrescendo. The song starts to add a synth sound of some kind, its an OK sound but it really doesn't fit in with the orchestral sounds very out of place. The ensemble of strings in this song is really good i give em that but i really don't dig the song i can't find anything that drives me torward them.

2. Deconstruction: Hmmm its up beat and its got strings and all the fun things you can dance with...hmm what do you call that? Right Rhythm something that moves even the ugliest people rhythm well i don't know about people liking this song but it does have rhythm. The ending is kind of slow and soft.

3. Lenslife: I really dig the bass, its a walking bass and on top of that the percussion is like everywhere there's bells, wood, bass drum and snare and it all comes into play on the sound its deep and slow rise to action in thickness.

4. Shiny Things: This is a soft song its got a thin texture and it doesn't have many things going on it just raises volume a lot. The guitar is really good though and when it gets loud it makes you wanna jump up and raise your hand in the air in triumph.

5. Tunguska: Saxophones yeah its good to have them in songs and this song has a long portion with them and also a guitar/harp that is strumming as if muted or like playing an electric as an acoustic but since its not loud its sounds like muted strings you get me? the vocals towards the end of the song makes you wanna sing along and its good.

6. Everything Turns: Dramatic piano plays and then some string sounding synth plays weird in a background full of xylophones and bells. later the bass drum goes in and guitars follow. its a nice little instrumental.

7. Tightrope: Hmmm i might consider this my favorite track because of its thin layer but it overlaps and just for a bit it gets thick and there's harps, bells, rattling, piano, trumpet and its all progressing so fast you can't tell what's next and and it just keeps changing its a very good song when you consider all of this. Also the song is really catchy and the song would be great without vocals/whistling but adding the vocals/whistling actually makes it so much better.

8. Feathers: This is a Nice catchy song its got a tame start and bells again. The vocals are great too especially her voice it really makes this track stand out. Clapping adds A connected frame work for audience involvement. Yeah that means i was clapping to it gotta a problem with that?

9. Bones: Its so calm and its probably the thinnest song for the longest period of time. It has a really good balance and i like the bass drum when it gets thin and the vocals are the only other thing making sound. Its a short song.

10. Dig: The title of the song reminds me of the song by Incubus. Its not even close to sounding like incubus though sounds more like Arcade Fire style music its got so much going around and so moving its got a classic feel to it.

11. A Flood: You know i don't like this song it reminds me of coldplay and i HATE coldplay so yeah the resemblance makes me hate the song.

12. Everything Resolves:Damn this song is short i didn't even catch much of a glimpse of it. its got a lot of stringed instruments that's all i got.

Verdict: Overall its good it has so many different instruments and its really thick every song seemingly flows into each other and its all so amazing there's so much going on and i applaud that.
